In Our Own Backyard

First it was Jena, Louisiana. Then it was the noose found on a professor's door in Columbia. Now it's happening right here in Arizona. On October 26, an African-American mother returned to her home in Litchfield Park to find it had been burglarized. There were messages of hate spray painted in nearly all rooms of her home. Graffiti included a swastika drawn next to the derogatory racial epithets and sexual terms.
She has lived in this area for several years without incident and then this happens. This just goes to show you, it doesn't matter where you live. Racism and bigotry are still alive and they live everywhere. So don't ever think that this can never happen to you.
