Today, WNBA champions the Phoenix Mercury announced that Corey Gaines, has been promoted to the head coaching position of the team. This news comes following the evacuation of this post by Paul Westhead. Westhead recommended Gaines for the position after he took a coaching position with the Seattle Supersonics.
I want to take a moment to say congratulations to Corey. And I also want to say congratulations to the Mighty Mercury for a phenomenal season last season. You made the Valley proud.
I had the opportunity to party with Mercury at their celebration following their amazing victory. Here's to another great season and another national championship.
